The sudden death of Dr. Clarence Hardy

Clarence Hardy ((1931 - 2011) a leader.

With great sadness we record the sudden death on Monday 18th April 2011 of Dr. Clarence Hardy. Dr. Hardy was a past-President and, at the time of his death, Secretary of the Australian Nuclear Association and Editor of its news letter. He recently served as Vice President (2004-2006) and President (2006-2008) of the Pacific Nuclear Council.
Dr. Hardy had over 40 years experience in research and management in the nuclear industry, initially at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Harwell, in the UK, and later at the Australian Energy Commission and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization. He published over 100 technical papers in nuclear science and technology, had several patents and authored two books.

Dr. Clarence Hardy will be sorely missed by his many colleagues and friends in Australia and overseas. He leaves behind his wife, Mollie, and his children, Christopher, Anthony, Sarah and John.

The Pacific Nuclear Council who benefitted from his leadership and advice will also sorely miss his enthusiastic presence in their meetings.
